For more than 50 years, the southwest corner of West Monroe and South Main Streets served as a hub for auto care in the New Bremen community. The Sunoco Station was built in the winter of 1935 by George Gross of the Anna Oil Company. The first manager was Arnold Hegemier. In the mid-1940s, the filling station was sold to the Rump family, who operated the establishment at this site until 1990.
